This is my third ever peyote stitch project. I don't remember which issue of "Birds and Blooms" I had seen the snowy owl in, but there he was in sparkling white cranky glory. I sat down and started drawing the pattern out.
The back side of this bag took some thinking. I wanted a wolf, and there are wolves in the arctic. Thing is they are white. I felt the back of this bag needed a contrast like day/night, but how would I make a white wolf against the moon? So he came out grey. It worked very well.
There are 5,000 delica beads in this piece, and the amulet bag is 3" by 4". Overall necklace length is approx 30 inches. It hangs comfortably on the neck with a nice weight to it. There is a loop clasp on the back--just slide the hand beaded bead through the loop. It's easy to clasp and comfortable. I tested this with my own long hair, and the clasp does not pull hair.
